2023 Presidency: Why I Visited Ojukwu’s Family – Peter Obi

According to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), he visited the family of the late Igbo leader Odumegwu Ojukwu to share his aspirations for Nigeria. On Friday, December 30, 2022, Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, the widow of the late Biafra warlord, received a courtesy visit from the former governor of Anambra State, according to Naija News. Speaking to reporters, Obi revealed that he had visited the Ojukwu family to solicit their blessing and support for his bid for the presidency in 2023.

He added that Bianca's support signifies that of the late Igbo leader. He explained that he needed to meet with every leader in the nation to ask for their blessing and support because he needed everyone to understand his noble intentions for the country. "I must come and meet my leaders, and leaders exist in various spheres of life, for me to do anything, especially as I am moving around right now," said Obi. "Whether it's a political leader or a religious leader, moving around is the most important thing to me." You humbly ask for their approval. "I require everyone's good wishes." You need everyone to understand you; you must explain what you are doing to them and be able to say, "I came for this purpose" and "That is why I am here to see the great Ojukwu's family." "I'm aware that with Bianca Ojukwu's own endorsement and support comes the endorsement of Ezeigbo, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, who is praying for us from wherever he is." The LP flagbearer added that he had met most Igbo leaders and had discussed his aspirations for a new Nigeria with them. "So you only need to support your son's effort if you see him succeeding and setting new standards," he continued. "I've spoken with the majority of our leaders. "They are all being consulted by me."
