Doyin Okupe, a senior member of the Labour Party (LP), is reportedly in custody after being apprehended by DSS agents. At the Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Okupe, the most recent Director General of the Labour Party's presidential campaign organization, was detained. A member of his legal team, Tolu Babaleye, revealed this on Thursday morning. The attorney claims that when the DSS agents picked up Okupe, he was en route to London for medical care.
Babaleye further stated that the LP chieftain was given the choice of paying a fine or presenting proof that the Federal High Court in Abuja had released him from the recent money laundering conviction. According to the attorney's statement, Okupe's arrest violated his client's fundamental human rights. He urged the DSS to release Okupe without further hassle because the situation has been resolved. The DSS detained Dr. Doyin Okupe at the Lagos Airport while he was traveling to London, according to the information that has just reached him. The source claims that the reason is that he was required to provide proof that the Federal High Court in Abuja had released him from the case in which he had been found guilty, had to pay a fine, and had been given permission to return home. The man has no case to answer anywhere as of right now, so I hereby demand that the DSS release my client immediately as this is a violation of his freedom of movement, right to liberty, and dignity as a human being. When will this harassment stop? Who is after Dr. Doyin Okupe? As of right now, the man has no case to answer anywhere. The man's health is rapidly deteriorating, so this is unfair.
