Gunmen Bomb Imo Police Station Hours After Attack On Ex-Gov

Gunmen on Monday night bombed the Afor Atta Divisional Police Headquarters in the Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State. This occurs shortly after gunmen bombed the convoy of Ikedi Ohakim, a former governor of the state. Four police officers died as a result of the incident, according to an earlier report by Naija News. Ohakim stated in a statement about the attack on his convoy that the shooters intended to kill him during the attack but were able to flee. The former governor of Imo State admitted that without his driver and the bulletproof vehicle he was traveling in, he would have perished.

According to a local source who spoke with Punch about the most recent attack in the state, the perpetrators stormed the police station, detonated explosives inside, and set the building ablaze. According to a subsequent report, no police officers were present when the gunmen entered the building. The police station in my community was burned down, the source claimed. Last night, it was burned. Fear prevented anyone from leaving. "The area is deserted as we speak." Following the burning of two nearby courts, the same police station was vandalized in June 2021.
