Former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Rowland Owie, chastised former President Olusegun Obasanjo for endorsing Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP). Owie claimed in a statement on Monday that the former Nigerian president is one of the previous leaders who brought the country to its current predicament and is a major destroyer of Nigeria. No Nigerian, according to the former lawmaker, should allow himself or herself to be duped by Obasanjo's support of the LP flagbearer. The former Nigerian president was also charged by Owie with displaying animosity toward people who consistently tell the truth and stand by it.

The LP flagbearer, according to the former Nigerian president, possessed the qualities and attitudes required to successfully run Nigeria's affairs at this time. Obasanjo claimed that Obi has demonstrated ability and performance, an honest, realistic, and authentic vision, as well as the traits and demeanor of a gentleman. The former president also attacked the Muhammadu Buhari administration, saying that since taking office in 2015, it has caused great sadness and terrible experiences for many Nigerians. For the majority of Nigerians, he claimed, the past seven years under the Buhari administration have been a living hell.
