What Tinubu Said During Visit To Oba Of Lagos On Sunday

President-elect Bola Tinubu has vowed not to let the Nigerian people down as he works hard to protect the trust placed in him. Tinubu, who is grateful to God and all Nigerians who voted for him in the February 25 presidential election, likened the Progressive Congress (APC) primaries and the election itself to a World Cup tournament, which is full of difficulty and unpredictable.

The purpose of the visit is to present a certificate that Tinubu has returned to Lagosians and the Oba of Lagos.

Tinubu was accompanied during the visit by Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was also an APC candidate in the March 11 gubernatorial election.

According to a statement released by his communications adviser, Tunde Rahman, on Sunday, Tinubu reassured Nigerians that he would not let them down. "To all sitting monarchies, may God bless you with good health. God will not let our country perish. We will not be used as a tool to dishonor them. I will not let you down," he declared.

"The journey we've taken, and we've come home with a certificate—it's like our own World Cup—and thank you all for the effort."

Reacting to the president-elect's visit, Akiolu described the Tinubu as a special breed "destined for leadership at the highest levels."

Other traditional rulers gathered at the palace were the king of the Ikate-Elegushi kingdom, Oba Saheed Elegushi, and the Oniru of Iruland, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal.
